The ability to form a stable passive layer gives stainless steels their resistance even under aggressive environmental conditions. One aspect that is often neglected is that a stable passive layer also requires appropriate pre-treatment. The presentation will explain various influencing factors based on the state of the art. In addition, examples will be used to show how the corrosion resistance and also the adhesion behavior of particles can be specifically adapted through the targeted use of manufacturing processes.
